Intuition… what is it, exactly?

We have all had that ‘gut’ feeling that something is ‘not quite right’…and when we experience this phenomena of instinctive knowledge, we would do well to ‘listen’. If something doesn’t feel quite right..it’s not ‘right’.

More often times than not, we humans fail to listen to our intuition. Intuition for me is my guiding light in just about every area of my life. I walk by faith vs. sight—and within my faith is a precious ‘knowing’—-not a thinking, or a believing, or a premonition, or random thought—-but for me, my intuition is a knowing.

I believe—-at least for me, intuition is The Holy Spirit speaking ‘truth’ into my spirit to guide or protect me—to show me when logic cannot. When I trust my intuition as I have been doing for nearly 40 years now, or perhaps better said, when I trust the Holy Spirit—it’s always to my benefit and it’s always correct and true.

In my personal and professional opinion, intuition is more important that intellect. Intellect calculates. Intuition knows. Whereas intellect allows logical application—intuition does not provide logic. We can often times ‘think’ or ‘believe’ something based on family, conditional or a learned bias that will result in masking our true intuition. Intuition is a precious gift that when we choose to trust it and develop our intuition, we will ultimately become much more happy and live more successfully and abundantly, free of burden or worry.

Below are five exciting ways to begin developing your intuition, possibly taking it to a new level where you can feel confident depending on it, and from where it is coming from… and eventually ‘knowing’ you can trust it.

1. Tune into the Holy Spirit via studying Holy scripture.
2. Meditate on God’s word, asking Him to reveal truth to you.
3. Record your dreams and the signs and symbols of your dreams.
4. Keep a journal of impressions; all visible, audible or gut feelings, and whether you followed these gut feelings and the outcome of listening to your intuitive guidance.
5. Practice a 15 minute moment of reflection, meditation or prayer to quiet and calm your mind, body, spirit and soul. Afterwards, record any impressions.

Within a few short days, perhaps immediately, you will begin to see manifestations that will enhance your life on many levels. There are several books that I recommend the first being the Holy Bible. Get one that offers a wide margin along with a study guide so you can write notes etc., in the margins. Our intuition is our God given gift that we are all blessed with. Develop it and use it… it could ‘save your life’.
