Shocking News

Greetings – Monday – November 30th., 2009
Sometimes we are ‘hit’ …simply smacked in the face with shocking news that takes us to our knees, turns us inside out, and the most common effect is ‘fear’. The news of someone suffering, who is close to us, almost always ignites our greatest fears. Perhaps more often than not the result of shocking news — regardless the nature, & whether it be about a loved one, or family member, or friend —-allows, albeit painfully so, us to take stock of our own lives.
Truly, shocking or devastating news does make us think. And it makes us think, differently. It changes or alters our perspective. Shocking news ‘makes’ us or allows us the opportunity to appreciate and value life, in general, & especially our own life in a different, perhaps sweeter way than we could have ever imagined, had we not experienced such news. There is always a silver lining…if we choose to deal with shocking news in a positive way, emotionally and spiritually.
This concept speaks volumes. We are all prone to take our day to day life and our blessings as well as our relationships for granted … and perhaps more often than we want to believe or admit. Therefore, make this ‘Aloha Monday’ matter to you, in a ‘new’ way by taking stock of what in or about your life and especially ‘whom’ in your life truly matters to you? Ask yourself this question now, ‘Who matters & what matters most to me? Do this ‘now’… prior to receiving ‘the call’ or ‘that dreaded news about someone whom you love. Pick up the phone, text, or email them and ‘tell them how you feel about them’. Tell them that you love them, let them know you are there for them, and that you care… let them know that they matter to you, because tomorrow may be too late.
