…because you don’t know when your life can end!
“Be right with God because you don’t know when life can end.”
Is a phrase that pastor Greg Laurie used just after he learned that his 33 year old son, Christopher, was killed in a tragic accident last year, July 24th., 2008. Chris was the father of one daughter and one on the way. The gut wrenching devastation and the sudden impact of overwhelming emotions flood the hearts and minds of families & friends when we learn of Sudden Death.
Think of the suddenly ‘deaths’ we’ve experienced globally as each day and month and year passes. And when we hear of it, we think … Thank God it’s not my son, daughter, husband, mother, father, sister, brother, aunt, uncle, friend or lover—–or even Thank GOD that it is not you, yourself!
Yet, the people who pass over among us are indeed a sister, brother, mother, father, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, friend and lover to someone—–and that someone feels the gut wrenching pain associated with the shock of sudden loss, the ‘STOP THE WORLD AROUND ME’ shocking pain of Sudden Death is sometimes more than what many of us, most of us are prepared to handle. Why is that?
One thing for sure, It’s not because we believe we are going to live forever.
I believe it has more to do with the fact that most of us fail to live each day in a way that would prepare us to not only receive ‘the suddenly factor’ of loss, well, (human emotions allow us to feel loss, that is a good thing and it’s natural) but to embrace the pain associated with LOSS —-and especially the loss of our loved ones, with absolute LOVE.
How do we do this? I am a firm believer that when we embrace our close and personal relationship with GOD first and foremost, thru the blood of Jesus Christ that we are more emotionally able, spiritually better equipped to deal with all the trials and tribulations associated with life…as death is just as much a part of life as life is. It is a inevitable experience and event in our lives, and it’s not about ‘if’ but about ‘When’ our life, as we know it, is going to end.
It’s time now to prepare.
“Be right with God because you don’t know when life can end.”
God has placed someone in your life now, gently and lovingly reaching their hand out to you to hold, to walk with you on your spiritual journey. Let this person into your life. S/he is your angel in disguise, don’t be afraid, GOD is waiting for you while you’re here on earth so that you too, will be the angel reaching out to someone else whose also being called to embrace HIM into their physical lives here on earth preparing for the journey beyond into paradise.
I am writing this today, In memory of my cousin, Michael Redmon, who went to be with God, last nite, August 30th., 2009. We love you Michael, may you rest in peace, safely, & perfectly with GOD, where your real journey begins, now. We will all miss you, dear, and see you soon my precious cousin and friend.
Love,
