Mercury, captured from Mariner 7, shows a pock-marked surface, similar to our Moon.
On Monday, January 28th, Mercury went Retrograde in Libra. This is a most beautiful diplomatic placement for Retrograde because as most of you know, “Retro” means to Red-Do, or ReVisit — and for this particular Retrograde negotiations are quite favored next week. What this means for everyone is to be sure to ask for what you want, and be direct about it. You will be well respected for knowing exactly what you want, so get busy thinking about exactly what that is.

Mercury Retrograde affects communications, so it’s good to remember that experts on the subject say that there are four messages given each time we communicate. What we mean to say. What we actually say. What the receiver hears us say. What the receiver (the other person in the communication) thinks it means. The last part can have a lot to do with our body language and the emotions and intonations that go along with spoken communication. And remember that Mercury in Retrograde disrupts communications, so pay special attention to the four messages, and how you can sort them out. How? Check to see if you’ve understood correctly by asking if what you think the communication means, is actually what the person speaking meant to say.
And on Wednesday, Jan. 30th, the Mars goes Direct adding its fiery passion to the mix of influences here on earth. You need to sharpen your focus on written and verbal communication in your career and personal life. What about subliminal communication? Every watch someone’s eyes carefully? They can tell you a lot. According to communication experts, blinking fast usually means a person is nervous — and peoples’ passions could be up this week. Eye contact regulates conversations, shows interest or involvement, and establishes a connection with others — in our culture. Dilated pupils indicate greater affection or attraction, while constricted pupils send a colder signal — usually a signal that your brain picks up subliminally. But you can tune in consciously and use what you see to help you understand what is being communicated. Mars coming back to “Direct” (it visually proceeds forward in its path through the skies), puts its fierce passions at work this week, and along with the Last Quarter Moon (Weds. Jan. 30th), this combination makes for a time to learn about what you truely care about. Give it some time — sleep on it. Then proceed with careful, clear communication — Mercury (Communication) in Retrograde now, means that you need to double-check the messages you are putting out. Get in touch with your feelings, get yourself together, and go forward like a skilled negotiator, to seek your opportunities.

Have you seen the old blue and white full Moon in the clear, crisp January nights? It went full yesterday (Tuesday), in Leo a sign that is focused on the self. Meanwhile, the Sun is now in Aquarius, which takes itself less seriously. You therefore have a lot of energy for self indulgence, balanced by an interesting Aquarian objectivity. Will your friendship progress toward romance? Part of you wants that, while another part sees the bigger picture and wonders where it might lead. On Wednesday, the Moon (emotion) “opposes” Mercury (Communication) which can put you in a bind for what to say about the dilemma you feel between what you want in the short term versus what you see for the long term. You can find a way to turn this into an opportunity, with the right dash of introspection.

On Thursday, 1/24, one of the things happening in the heavens is a conjunction of Venus (Love) with Pluto (transformation). When planets are in conjunction, their energies can act on each other in quite intense ways. And, the propostion of Astrology is that energy generated in the Cosmos has its impact on Earth. So… put Love, and Transformation together, and what do you get? A couple of possibilities: passions become stronger as the need to move forward compels intense feelings of love/friendship, and that a love/friendship relationship is headed into a new phase as it evolves. This weekend, the good old Moon, now in a powerful but waning stage, has decided to “square” two planets — both Mars and Pluto. Squares (the relative position of two or more planets), can create some tension, and also some great opportunities. The Moon (emotion), facing off with Mars (passion) creates some emotional fire that can ignite a romance. And with the Moon and Pluto (renewal), squaring off, we can see that deep feelings again come into play with potential for a transformation. So between friends and lovers you’re likely to feel some things that move you — and your relationship — to the next level. Go with it… but don’t let your emotions get the best of you. Daija View: The New Year, Hogmanay, Boar Tide, and Auld Lang Syne……

As the New Year Begins, We look ahead… and look back…
It’s a brand New Year 2007, and here’s wishing you a happy one where all your dreams come true. It’s a celebration of new beginnings in the dead of Winter. And this new year is celebrated in many ways, and even in different months throughout the world. Most folks are aware of the Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated on Feb. 18th this year (the date changes since the Chinese Calendar is based on astrological positioning), is the year of the Boar, or “PIG” in generic terms. According to the Chinese tradition, the year of the Boar is one of benevolence, one with a lot of ‘feel good factor’, one of “abundance” and a good year for business. Sounds like a good year, where our bank accounts and the economy gets a little Boar-ing boost, and basically we’ll all fatten up a bit by makin’ a bit more bacon before the year ends.
And remember how magically important this NEW YEAR really is… and isn’t every New Year?? Remember how much love we truly can give each to the other, and how much love and kindness that we have all witnessed just looking at the passing of another year…”
And speaking of ‘Piglets’ another interesting New Years tradition is that of “Hogmanay,” (get it “HOG”) a Scottish tradition with an official celebration on Dec. 31st. One charming custom associated with the observance is that of “first-footing,” whereby the first person to cross the doorway into the home of a friend or neighbor sets the luck for the rest of the year, usually bring symbolic gifts like shortbread, whiskey, and black bun (a type of fruit pudding) to the home owner who then shares them with guests. Who are the first guests in your home this year? What will they bring? Hopefully they’ll be dropin’ off a bag of bacon or $$$, or perhaps they’ll be stoppin’ bye for a quick visit and perhaps share a meal, drink or laugh!
Oh, and you’ve probably sang, or at least you’ve heard sung, the song, “Auld Lang Syne?” I love that SONG!! Guess what… it is a custom that came about during Hogmanay in Scotland, there’s a lot going on with the abundance of the Pig year. . .for starters, Jupiter (ABUNDANCE)… is there any doubt how all these different ideals associated with this new year, are in general all about ‘growth, abundance, ‘fattening up’ our bank accounts, our emotional accounts, and our spiritual accounts, too. And do you know what the words “Auld Lang Syne” actually mean? Literally, they are “old long since,” though in modern English they might be better translated “days of long ago,” or perhaps “once upon a time.” Friendship, memories, a longing for the times that have past. All this harkens in the New Year. As the final verse of the original lyrics by Robert Burns (1759 - 1796) goes,
“And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
And give us a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.”
And of course we all tend to remember the “auld acquaintence” — friends and family we’ve known for so long — when we hear the song. A good thought for them, a prayer, the nostalgia of things past. All this sweeps to mind as the ball falls, and the New Year dawns. Whether or not your old friends are the first to cross your threshold, they of course can play important roles in the “benevolence” and “abundance” forecasted in the Chinese tradition. Is it time you touched base with your old friends for the sake of old times? We’re all connected in the web of destiny, and most can feel this during celebration and song as the wheel of this abundant new year turns.
Remembering what was… celebrating what will be, and is to be. That is the gift of this New Year, 2007. And whether it falls on the Gregorian Calendar date of Jan. 1, in February as the year of the Boar begins, or on some other date in another tradition… the important thing is what is in your heart, and what moves your spirit.

Happy Birthday Capi!! No doubt you’re in the midst of post holiday celebration, and still celebrating for the remainder of the month!! And you deserve it, too. Now don’t get to hasty in your planning before the New Moon in your sign on the 18th. Between now and then, put on your thinking Caps, Capi, ‘mentally’ creating your upcoming plans for the new year. After the 18th, you’ll slock your plans into orbit creating just about anything your heart’s desire. Make sure that you ask for what you want, and then realize that it’s not about if, but surely only about when, you’re going to get it. Spiritual Blessing: Compromise is not a sign of weakness, especially in partnership matters.
Aquarius Jan 19 — Feb 18
When the going get’s tough, you’re the tough one who get’s things going! Your love life is soaring, this month, although it may be in the opposite direction of what you anticipated. You’ll remain stable and unscathed during this transit so long as you refrain any attempt to ‘control’ those in partnership with you. Regardless of the type of partnership dynamic, you’ll have challenges to contend with. However, it’s those areas of conflict in our lives that allow us the most growth, thererfore, rest assured that you’ll feel better after the 18th, & just in time to celebrate a wonderful birthday with the one you truly love! Rather, display an inquisitive demeanor, along with absolute non-disclosure. Trust right now is between you and the sign post; certainly your ideas are worth much more than even you can imagine. Careful about what you say and to whom, especially if you’ve got an incredible idea pertaining to an innovative business venture or solution. Your mental gymnastics is worth a zillion $$$, if acted on and with the right people & in the most appropriate venue. Between the 7th and 21st, you’re rocking and rolling in the networking of business enterprises. Yet, go slow, and follow through, dot your “i’s” and cross your “t’s” and disallow anyone to get the better of your nerves. You’ll need a cool head to wrangle things your way, and keep it so, for many moons. The new moon on the 18th signals to you that your job is half done, for the first quarter, anyway. And by the 29th, you’ll relax knowing that you planted your seeds, and now you’ll watch the funding all the way to the bank. You’re on your way to success, although partnerships can be misleading. The term of a relationship is exactly what you’ve desired for a long time, just fearful about actually ’setting’ that route into action. You want happiness and you want everyone else to be happy, too. Intense communications prevail, and you reach a decision. Spiritual Blessing: Laughter is truly the best medicine, however, in making jokes at someone else’s expense, it’s apparent who will suffer most.

Keep those gypsy feet on the ground winged friends, it’s not the time of month or even the month to fly off into the wild blue yonder on a solo mission. There’s plenty of time for that later this year. Right now it’s all about focus, which could be the farthest thing from your mind. Cash flow appears to stablize midmonth, you actually have more after the 18th than you anticipated. SHOPPING TIME!! You hear about something that brings a tear to your eye; you realize how much you’re truly loved. This month you meet your soul mate connection, yet, it’s your choice whether or not you allow the connection to solidify. The right connection is the one that provides something more than lust, it is endearing, enduring, expresses kindness, consideration and joy. Many people in your life right now want you. You have a choice, of course, but there’s only one, whose heart you set afire. Look straight into the abyss of all that you fear, as it is there, where your love life suddenly changes gears, and your decision will lead you to a place that only you’ve dreamed about. And you’re still in love with someone from your past, and perhaps if you look at the big picture, you’ll see them, clearly, and you’ll make the connection that will alter the rest of your life, and favorably so, of course. Never have you considered such a lifestyle change than perhaps what you’re going thru right now, and will continue to enjoy for sometime, still. There’s plenty of time to catch up on life, and love, of course, when you’re with your heart’s desire. Stop dreaming about ‘her/him’ and make the connection that matters most.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! To launch this awesome jam packed event filled first month of the new year, we begin with honoring the New Year’s Eve New Moon in Capricorn, where Saturn the ruler of Capricorn, sets our strategies and rountines in specific order enabling us to move thru this month with ease and abundant rewards via beneficial structure and application. And the best part, increased financial benefits prevail thru this year. Planets are above the horizon this month, therefore, fewer challenges exist in the status quo and there’s little need to actually make marked changes. It is wise to go with the flow. Make sure your choices and actions are beneficial to you at the beginning of the month, and you’re sure to reap continued rewards, happiness and success throughout the month and even into next month, both financially and professionally!

Whether your goal is to enjoy better relationships or better and more profitable business pursuits and relations; you seek your greatest potential in achieving your greatest success when you stop fighting, pushing and pulling, but simply be still, and listen to what is being said. You will then apply your intuitive message to the good of all concerned. GOD is speaking to you now, and it is only when you are still, that you will hear His message clearly, bringing all your desires to fruition. Spiritual Blessing: You have been chosen. Know when to ‘hold um’ and know when to ‘fold um’ is your motto this month as Venus remains retrograde all month. Simply ‘lay low’ and go with the flow in matters pertaining to romantic relationships, marriage and divorce. Simply allow yourself to sit tight and patiently wait at least until the 27th when dealing with decisions that would terminate the status quo, relationally speaking, could drastically change. This is catch up time in business matters and you’re busy wrapping up holiday delayed projects from early last fall. You meet challenges and deadlines with little resistance, yet your personal life could indeed suffer. Promises made to loved ones now will be honored in full glory after the 31st.
