Often when I write blog posts, I talk about how the planets are working in the heavens, sometimes cooperating with one another, and sometimes at odds and how that impacts us here on earth. And in horoscope charts, aspects are patterns we check to ascertain elements of the personality. But what are these “aspects” exactly? I get the question a lot, so let’s take a closer look.

“Aspect patterns have a major influence on your personality and character by creating greater ease or resistance.”

You can think of aspects as way in which the planets work together to make things easier, or harder for you. You can track (chart) aspects by studying the angles that planets form to one another at particular points in time. And, when several aspects occur in the same chart (or simultaneously), they can create larger aspect patterns. Instead of one aspect, several planets in aspect can create a larger aspect pattern. These larger patterns can signify a complex personality pattern, referred to by psychologists as “complexes”.

Modern astrologers approach aspects more from data and reporting in current research with some consideration of historical reference. “Astrological harmonics” is an umbrella term having to do with the study and factoring in of all aspects for a given person, or situation.

Aspect patterns have a major influence on your personality and character by creating greater ease or resistance. They can also be set off and stepped up by transiting and progressed planets. A natal trine may become a Grand Trine whenever a third planet enters the part of the zodiac that trines both planets already in trine. A T-Square can become a Grand Square, and a sextile can become a Yod. This can also happen in relation to other people and their planets can form larger aspect patterns with yours. Having these aspects together can create feelings of immediate rapport and significant relationship dynamics or something you are both attracted to work on or understand.

Helpful Aspects: Trines & Grand Trines

Trines are formed between a couple of planets when they are roughly at a 120 degree angle from each other and generally are viewed as a favorable influence with the energy of each planet contributing to the positive energy of the trine. A simple example would be on a particular day when Mercury (Communication) forms a trine with Venus (Love), then it can be said to be fortuitous to speak what is in your heart — about love, on that day. But things are usually much more complex than that, and even following trines, there can be too many of them in a chart which might tend to make a person lazy.

When 2 planets make a trine (120 degree angle), and there is a 3rd planet that also makes trines to both planets, this triangle is called a Grand Trine. Imagine a planet at 0 degrees Aries, another at 0 Leo and a 3rd at 0 Sagittarius, and this is a Grand Trine. The 3 planets that make up a Grand Trine are usually in the same ELEMENT. They don’t have to be, as some aspects are very close, yet out-of-sign. However, the principle of a Grand Trine is that there or 3 (or more) planets trine each other in the same element. When you see a Grand Trine in a chart, it looks like a large triangle.

A Grand Trine aspect pattern can create a feeling of ease and complacency because things seem to “just happen” seamlessly, without effort, friction, or force. This can signify a special talent or ability that appears effortless, but it can also signal a tendency to be lazy or complacent because things come so easily that there is nothing to prove and talent is never fully developed. Your tendency can be to leave the tough stuff for another day. With a Grand Trine, there’s always tomorrow….

Challenging Aspects: T-Squares and Grand Squares

When 3 planets square each other, they form a triangle called a T-Square. In a T-Square, there is one planet that squares 2 other planets that oppose each other. If you envision a planet at 0 degrees Aries with a planet square it from 0 Capricorn and another at 0 Cancer, this is a T-Square. If there is also a 4th planet in square with the others, for example a planet at 0 degrees Libra, this creates a Grand Square pattern.

A T-Square is a challenging aspect that signifies a struggle that intensifies and eventually leads to a resolution. While T-Square configurations are common, they signify an inherent challenge that forces growth or change that can lead to success in life. The focal planet, or planet that squares the opposing planets, is the key to the T-Square and shows where tension is most likely to show up. Conflict resolution may be aided by the missing or empty part of the Square (opposing the focal planet).

While T-Squares are often found in charts, Grand Squares are less common and often signify a weight to bear that keeps you on a short leash. It may seem like access is continuously denied and you are restricted to a small area where growth is only possible with discipline and hard work. For some reason or another, you are continually stressed and need to consciously maintain balance, always being forced to stick to the straight and narrow. Somehow, these people often learn to carry big loads and are capable of effectively handling large responsibilities. However, they can also feel overstressed and overburdened at times.

Cosmic Aspects: Yods

In a YOD pattern, 2 planets make a sextile, and they both make a quincunx (inconjunct or 150 degree aspect) to a 3rd planet, creating a triangle, or Yod. If you imagine a planet at 0 Aries and 2 planets sextile each other at 0 Virgo and 0 Scorpio, this is a Yod.

Yods are called the “finger of God” and have a connotation of being receptive to messages from higher states of consciousness. While Yods can be exotic and you can enjoy the adventure of feeling like a stranger in a strange land, you may also need to make consessions and be adaptive to unfamiliar situations when you have a Yod in your chart. It may be that you give in one direction and get your needs met from a completely different source, so it is not possible to measure how much others give you to decide how much you can give.

All of these kaleidoscope of patterns factor in together in your horoscope and the picture (a snapshot of patterns) that astrologers consider for daily, weekly, and monthly events.

Happy Weekend and Good Friday. One aspect on Saturday, is that the Moon (emotions) is in position to challenge Jupiter (Growth), so you have an opportunity to look at any feelings that are holding you back from where you need to go. Emotional intelligence is one thing, but feelings are also known to block people — fear is a good example. That’s one service Astrology does for us — bringing to our attention things we can look at so we can get past them instead of leaving them rumbling at the subconscious level.

“God is hope, God is light, and God is truth. And the Truth will set you free.”

A lot in Astrology is about “archetypes.” For instance, the Sun (Personality) is in Pisces now, which is noted for the archetypes of the Mystic, the Dreamer, the Story Teller. Archetypes are models for a personality type, and what they say about motivation, has a lot to do with the actual behavior you observe. So, under Pisces energy, you can take some time to dream your dreams, and when you manifest them — weave a story about it. It’s ok if people see you as the Dreamer, as long as you can come back to earth long enough to bring those dreams into reality.

Jupiter and Saturn were in position this week to get us to face the truth. Most of us value the truth. Many of us block certain parts of it from ourselves for a time. You should welcome this opportunity to be set free. The work of blocking truth doesn’t really get us anywhere and requires a lot of energy that goes wasted. There’s no way around it — no shortcut. That’s the truth. God is hope, God is light, and God is truth. And the Truth will set you free.

It is interesting that the Moon (emotions) often plays a bigger role in aspects which affect our days than the Sun (personality), which most people focus on regarding their horoscopes. On Wednesday, the Moon was dancing with Mars (intiative) to bring a feeling that you can get things done today. Bring it. It was also in favorable position with Neptune (ideals) to heighten the sense that you can reach for your dreams. As with most opportunities, there is a flipside — caution that your enthusiasm doesn’t blind you so you shoot right by the truth. Bring it down to earth, and think logically about things before making important decisions.

What can we learn from rigidity? On Friday (3/21) the Sun (personality) forms a square with Pluto (Renewal) — a position that creates a sort of celestial tug-of-war. This can mean that your ego, or someone close to you, is holding you back from what you need to get done. You know, “digging in your heels?” Here’s a good meditation: what lasts longer and gets more done, the ocean (fluidity), or a rock cliff (rigidity). So, your challenge is to go with the flow, even if it means shutting down the ego a bit.

A lot of what Astrologers look at has to do with how two or more planets are positioned to each other, and how the tension between them — in the heavens — can exert an effect on us on Earth. Remember, the Moon can cause the tides. So other planets, some many times the size of the Moon, though at great distance, have their influence on us as well. Right now, one thing that is going on in the Zodiac, is that Venus is positioned to “square” (at a 90 degree angle) Uranus. This can create a tension in your relationships and with people close to you where you may have some different ideas about how to proceed, then they do.

“This is a time for emotional intelligence. Trust what your feelings are telling you.”

On Tuesday (01/15) of this week, the Moon “squares” the Sun in the heavens. Then, later in the week, Venus enters Aquarius. Again, a “square” creates a kind of celestial tug of war. And, when the Moon — ruler of emotions — has tension with the Sun — the light of your personality — you may see some emotions affecting your behavior. Deal with them. Remember: feel, deal, heal. That will get you ready for the planet of Love (Venus) entering the somewhat unpredictable sign of Aquarius. Deal with your emotions up front, then you can deal, much better, with any unexpected things that come up in your relationships later in the week.

On Thursday (01/17), a couple of interesting planetary configurations include the Moon squaring Neptune, and then we have a Moon trine Sun configuration this evening. This is nice for the emotional side of things where your gut instincts may be important in what you create today. Your emotions may again play a key role in how you are perceived tonight and tomorrow, as you can be sympathetic with friends and sweethearts. This is a time for emotional intelligence. Trust what your feelings are telling you.

On Friday (1/18) the Moon creates a little tension with the Sun, based on its position celestially. They are at an angle known in Astrology as a “sesquiquadrate.” This can result with your feelings being at odds with what your “head” is telling you. Logic versus emotions. Each have their value. Put it down on paper, and sleep on it overnight, before making a decision. Again, the Moons role in providing signals for our “emotional intelligence” comes into play. Trust your gut instinct once again, but make sure you don’t act irrationally. Of course there are other factors involved like your own individual personality, your horoscope, and the influences of other planets.

So, just like there’s a mechanism to the universe, with orbits and gravities affecting planet sized bodies… so there are gears of influence that encircle and work their wills on our lives.

How does Astrology help you figure out what’s going on in your life, and in the lives of romantic interests, coworkers, and family members? Well there are books and books on that, but one thing we do is look at “Aspects” in the horoscope. An aspect is the angle the planets make to one another in a particular horoscope. You can think of this as energies interacting in a personality (each planet represents a certain type of energy). This has been called “astrological harmonics,” and you can think of a chart as a sort of musical score for your life. What notes will you play with the people you work with, and the people you love? That’s where it gets very interesting.

Sometimes events in your life are in “harmony”, some times they are quite out of tune. It is very interesting when you look at all of the different character traits of someone you know well — it can be quite a long list. And your character traits, have to work well with those around you for your social self to be in harmony. That’s why Astrologers look at Aspects, and in particular Major Aspects revealed in one’s horoscope, and in the charts showing what’s going on daily, weekly, and monthly. Awareness of major aspects in your life — emotional awareness — can be used as an opportunity to change and alter your life that will benefit you.

“Understanding your energy blueprint and those of important people in your life can help you make wise choices.”

Is Astrology all about your Sun sign? No… there really is a lot more to it. Among other things, we Astrologers look at your horoscopes to determine different types of “aspects”, like Conjunctions, Sextiles, and Squares. These, generally speaking, have to do with the way the planets line up in different configurations within the houses of your horoscope. Conjunctions may be thought of as blended energies, and sometimes this can mean a blindspot in your life. Sextiles, may point to your talents, and Squares can create certain tensions within the personality — not necessarily a negative thing. Tensions can be just what’s required to motivate action. There are other types of aspects too, which combined, show a sort of energy blueprint for your personality. Understanding your energy blueprint and those of important people in your life can help you make wise choices.

Welcome to my premier bi-monthly double-issue of Celestial Sun! It’s been a joy serving you all over the past couple years with the smaller monthly version featuring mainly a monthly article and monthly scopes. Due to many variables we decided to launch a bi-monthly and you all were great in sharing with me what you wanted to read, learn and be updated on, and that’s exactly what we’ve brought to you and will continue to bring to you in our bi-monthly issues from here on out, and with an added surprise here and there, of course.

The point and focus of my newsletter is Teaching and Learning. I am focused on presenting material to you that will teach, educate and prepare you in several areas of your life where you have a need, or a desire, or an interest to learn something more. Whether it’s about yourself, relationships, wisdom, scripture, life, romance, career, love, family, the cosmos, energy, synergy, metaphysics, serendipity, synchronicity, God, physics. . . or anything you could possibly imagine, that is what The Celestial Sun is all about, to provide an appetizer if you will into the many facets of all that everyday life is about other than the ‘weather’ and those superficial sorts of chit-chat things that ‘to me’ don’t matter to a hill of beans! Friends once you begin to ask questions, your life will begin to change, dramatically, and when your life begins to change dramatically, your world magically opens up new opportunities. Once your world opens up new opportunities, you become enlightened and suddenly you are making decisions right and left and becoming a master and creator of your universe and destiny. So many people believe that they are limited by their circumstances. I hear all the time, I can’t do this because of this, or I can’t do this because of that? People, you can do anything you truly desire to do. Remember: Everything in this Universe is Permissible. . . but not everything is acceptable. You don’t like where you are. Okay! CHANGE IT! It first begins with a thought or an Idea or a desire to do or want something different, and one small little change, one small little step.

“Friends, you must learn to Live Above your circumstances.”

So often people believe that their astrology charts rule their destiny, or that their cards determine their fate?? My dear friends, you are the master and creators of your destiny, by the choices you create in your life, and the wise or unwise decisions you make about those choices you’ve created. And it is by virtue of those wise or unwise choices and of course, those wise or unwise decisions . . .that you will either enjoy, endure, or suffer the consequences. The choice and the decision is truly up to you.

Life is truly a concentric circle of endless choices that we do indeed create and endless decisions that we do indeed make one after another after another, day in and day out. And it is for this very reason that we must be awake and alert. So many of our choices and decisions are done robotically — or as I say mindlessly. If you are struggling now, and considering whether you are ‘truly awake or not, then make the choice today to Wake up!

When we make the choice to wake up and look mindfully at what we are doing, thinking about and creating in our lives — our perspective changes, we let go of controlling others, and begin to take control of our own lives, looking at things that we can control such as our own emotions, and how we choose to act and react and respond to others and to situations in our lives. And it is by accepting those things that we cannot control, and having the good sense to know the difference that we are able to let go… and let God work miracles in our lives. I do promise each and every one of you, that in recognizing your own responsibility in all your personal and professional relationships and in all communication surrounding those relationships and establishing those boundaries for yourself, that by maintaining a certain degree of detachment from all people and things, and then begin by placing God first and foremost in your life, that you will not only live a life that is more awake and in tune — in time, a Masterful life, but you will also feel and be more in control of all that you are doing in your life. You will be ready to celebrate joy, and it is from this place that you will draw others to you. And this is an absolute result of placing God in that position in your life!

Leo Jul 22 — Aug 22 Happy Birthday Darling and it’s certainly a grand celebratory time for you with Saturn making it’s final descend and moving onto Virgo, you couldn’t be more ready. And you are about to Fly up UP and AWAY!!! Now is the time to get Going, and you are going On and On and On…and even round and round, but soon, you’ll get off and just at the most perfect stop, and you’ll feel like you are at HOME, finally! Isn’t that what you’ve been praying for? Of course!! You are more than ready and coming up on that final month of Saturn Return, you’re short in August, and whew, it’s been a task-master for sure! And if you’re one of my clients then you know I’ve been talking about this and preparing you for this major cosmic event for the past year or so. Here you are at the 6 week count down, and I know you’re ready! (LOL). With August here you are all prepared I’m sure for Mr. Serious, Stable Structured, and Strict Saturn to join you for a two and half year visit, so let’s rev up these final count down days for this mighty welcome, okay! Libra Sept 22 — Oct 23 Set sail late mid August while Venus is regrading, and has been since July 28th., you deserve a break now, and just be still romantically speaking. This basically means to “CHILL OUT’ for awhile, making no moves until ‘she’ goes direct (and only because your ruler is VENUS, my dear Libra) on September 8th. Then you can get back in to the swing of things and rule the roost in matters of love and money once again, make some weighty decisions about where you want to go or not go, etc. Until then be sweet and stable, only moving with the ebb and flow of whatever is going on in your life ‘with whomever you’re with. And if you’re with no one special—-leave it that way for now and keep it platonic, and just date and have a good time enjoying each other’s company, and getting acquainted or reacquainted, platonically. This is all about Neptune and how you’re relating to yourself, ‘self talk’ and there’s plenty of it right now between you and yourself. Don’t confuse yourself, however, with all this chatter, and calm yourself by seeking answers from qualified individuals such as trained counselors or life coaches, etc., because you are in the midst of making big decisions, and you do need wise counsel, and it’s about making the best decisions about the choices you create that will enable you to enjoy your best blessed life. Scorpio Oct 23 — Nov 22 You’re in the mood for creative FUN mid August when Mars (action) prompts you to take risks, that perhaps you wouldn’t normally, if not for feisty Gemini coaxing Mars, urging you to do so, and you sort of like it, now don’t you??? Of course! After what could be seen and felt to you, as somewhat ‘BORING’ July days, to some extent, you’re ready for some “HOT ACTION” and everyone around you seems to be enjoying your presence. Invitations are certainly coming your way, and you’re having a difficult time choosing. It’s possible that you’ll try saying ‘YES’ to all. Doing so could cause time management issues, and neglect elsewhere in your life. Balance is key in making yourself and everyone around you happy. Career, finance and investments line up nicely and remain status quo until mid August when you rearrange your schedule, pay some debt and reinvest some cash and spend some money on yourself for a change for something quite frivolous, and this could be a secret item, but only for a moment, because you soon let everyone know about your new surprise or toy! Install security systems, repair and replace locks and update luggage labels etc., people are looking at you and looking out for you at the same time. The sacrifices Father’s make endear them to us

In June we celebrate the coming of Summer, and of course, Father’s day. What does it mean to be a Father? Well, a lot of chores, mixed with laughter, mixed with challenges, mixed with work, mixed with joy. And, every good Father is a minister of the Spirit, from cheering on the team, to providing support, and back-up in difficult situations, to examples and lessons of faith provided by spiritually inclined fathers — and grandfathers. Wow… what a busy life it is. To get all of these things done, and “be there” for their family, a big part of what a Father does is sacrifice. It may be something small, like giving up a golf match to be with the family at the zoo, or bigger, like working a second job to help pay for the kid’s college costs. And what Father wouldn’t die for their family, if it came to that?

“As parents, we are Mothering and Fathering little souls. How important is that?.”

Have you ever heard the story of the “Four Chaplains?” One was Catholic, another Jewish, and two were Protestant. They were assigned to troops in WWII going across to England in a convoy, on a cruise ship. They held services in the mess after meals. All of their “boys” looked up to them like Fathers, and of course the Catholic Chaplain was called, “Father.”

Coast Guard Cutters were trying to protect the ship from U-Boats, but it fell behind the convoy and was blown up. It sank in eighteen minutes. During that time, one man ran onto the deck with a meat cleaver threatening all in order to get to a lifeboat. An officer shot him dead.

Also, during those eighteen minutes, the four chaplains gave their life vests to soldiers who had forgotten or lost theirs. Then they stood and linked arms on the bow of the ship as it went down and sang hymns for those frozen in fear on the boat, and those in the freezing water who had jumped overboard.

As the soldiers watched the boat go down, some in the water and some in the only two lifeboats that got launched — they remembered two things. Each life vest they wore had a red light on it to help ships find survivors in the water. Those that stayed on the boat in their life vests made a kind of string of lights like at Christmas time, each representing one soul going down, into the water with the ship. And, they remembered the four Chaplains, arms linked, singing hymns as the ship slipped under. One survivor told the men on the Coast Guard Cutter that plucked him out of the water, that the example of the Chaplains was as close to heaven as he had ever expected to be.

Standing in unity, facing death. Singing about faith in the face of disaster. A gift, by their example, in the lives of those survivors… their young men who looked up to them as Fathers — Fathers of the Spirit, to the end.

As we go about the work of parenting, often it’s too easy to lose site of the higher things to which we aspire. As parents, we are Mothering and Fathering little souls. How important is that? Here’s to the good Fathers (and Mothers) who by their own fine spirits lift their children and those around them — up toward the best that we can be on this life journey. That is my prayer for you this month.

Daija View: Mothers of the Earth, May Day and the Heart of Abundance…

Mother’s Day means many things… but at the core is the embrace of the one who bore you…

May is a wonderful month filled with the abundance of celebrating the first day of May, or “May Day”, as the worker’s holiday, and was selected in 1889 as a world labor holiday to show support for labor activism in the United States. As time progressed, the US dropped this celebration choosing another day in September, known as “Labor Day” to celebrate the eight-hour work day. May Day’s first celebration originated in the spring fertility festivals of India and Egypt. The festival of the Roman goddess of spring, Flora, was celebrated from Apr. 28 to May 3. In medieval England the chief feature of the celebration of May Day was the Maypole; this was decorated with flowers and streamers, the loose ends of which were held by dancers, who colourfully circled around the pole, weaving intricate patterns as they passed each other in their celebratory dance. These dances are still performed for exhibition purposes in England and the United States. The Second Socialist International in 1889 designated May Day as the holiday for labor, and since that time it has been the occasion for demonstrations, parades, and speeches among socialists and communists. And of course, we all celebrate the love of all Mothers on Earth, and honor Mother Earth, herself.

What is the origin of ‘Mother’s Day’? It is observed in many countries around our World because it has a number of different meanings. In Ancient Asian religions, Cybele was honored as the Great Mother Goddess. In the fifth centrury BC, her cult was introduced to Greece, honoring her with a great bountiful festival. The Romans had a holiday called Matronalia on which all Mothers were given gifts.

“Mothering Sunday,” an observance in the United Kingdom falls on the fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter Sunday. It is thought to have originated in the middle ages when Christians visited their mother church once a year — that meant that most mothers were reunited with their children on that day.

And in the United States… Mother’s Day began as a call to unite women against war. Social activist Julia Ward Howe, after the American Civil War wrote the “Mother’s Day Proclamation,” in 1870 — a short statement urging the forsaking of violence, “Whereby the great human family can live in peace.” Today, some organizations are working to revive Howe’s original vision of a holiday that celebrates peacemaking by Mothers and others. Around the world Mothers have always stood for peace, an important fact to remember as our own nation continues in a war in the middle east.

Just as we were all born of Mothers, so the earth has been the nourishing lady that sustains us through our lives. You may have heard of the concept of “Gaia” — the earth as a living being, where some scientists have proposed that the living and nonliving parts of the earth form a complex system that can be thought of as a single organism.

Remember the old TV commercial, where an angry Goddess whips up a storm with lightning and thunder, and shouts “it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature?” Words of wisdom — maybe Al Gore also remembers that commercial, as he travels about promoting his Global warming theories. We’ll all do well, as we honor our own Mothers, to go kind on this old lady Earth that provides all of the food and abundance in our lives.

Seems kind of “heavy” even contradictory that the month of May that begins as a celebration of Peace and Mothers of Peace, then by tracing the celebrations of May back to modern day global warming, war, and labor riots, what has become of Mother Earth? On a lighter note, May also brings wonderful warm, balmy evenings in which romance and the finer intrigues of life can bloom and grow, at least this is true in the US and Canada. Australian readers are celebrating their Fall Season now, with cooler crisp air, and of course love finds us all, regardless of the season of the year.

And in every season, we can gaze into its depths, like meditating before a warm fire, and see many of the passions of life passing before our eyes. It’s that way in the heavens, as is so on our Earth. Every Mother can hold her child close in comfort and compassion as she grows in spiritually supernatural wisdom beyond the ways of our earthly world, celebrating her offspring in her warm loving bosom from some of the weary discord, fostering a calm peaceful harmony in the wild hearts of man.

That is my prayer for you — that your Mother hold you fast in that sacred place where her heart of life gives abundant love.

Daija View: Fools, April Love, and Palm Sunday…

Remember how wonderfully foolish things were at first?

---

Did you ever hear the old song, “April Love?” Its signature lyric goes like this, “April Love… it’s for the very young.” Well, I think those writers made a mistake. I believe it is “for the very young… at heart.” A very interesting synchronicity is that where love is concerned, most poets, bards, and songwriters associate the word “Fool” with it. Hmmmm. April Fools’ Day, indeed. Remember the lyrics, “why do Fools fall in love?” How about the song “Foolish Games?”

“Fools, you see, know the power of laughter, and the shamanic healing that comes from telling the truth in such a way that folks can laugh as they ‘take their medicine.’”

In the Tarot Deck, the Fool card is the only numberless card in the deck. The Fool stands at the beginning, outside of the dance, drama, and numbered story — before it unfolds. In innocence, and with no attachments, the Fool proceeds spontaneously and happily approaches all new experiences. And what an experience, Love can be. Remember how amazing your first love was? Wow… what a sizzle. My wish for you is that you can let go (of troubles, worries, concerns — you know… all that is a bit dark), find that newness again, recreating that oh so special spark! Whether you’re in a long-term relationship, or just setting out on a new friendship/budding romance, there’s love just around the next corner for you. So read on to see just how you can experience what’s about to occur this month for you!

In Zen Buddhism, there is a concept known as “Beginner’s Mind.” It means having a sense of open-ness, eagerness, and lack of preconceptions when approaching something, or someone. Just like the Fool (in love). Just like first love. In the Zen teacher, Shunryu Suzuki’s book, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind, says that, “In the beginner’s mind (seeing everything with the eyes of a child) there are many possibilities. Contrary to the expert’s mind, there are but only few.” Are you an “expert” at love, or are you open to the vast number of furtive possibilities that exist?

Remember too, that the Fool can be a Jester — in the modern (regular) playing card deck, it is the “Joker.” Fools, you see, know the power of laughter, and the shamanic healing that comes from telling the truth in such a way that folks can laugh as they “take their medicine.” Wise Kings and Queens valued smart court Jesters quite highly. And of course, because there was no such thing as ‘TV’, royalty employed Jesters frequently for their entertainment. Comedy with integrity is a way of honoring the truth in an exceptionally honorable entertaining way. I asked a man in his 70′s once, “why do so many songs about love, include the word ‘fool’ in them?” He laughed and shook his head, saying, “I’m not sure, and I really want to know that answer.” But he enjoyed the wisdom in the humor.

When you first fall in love, you treat your beloved with great respect, consideration and honor. One of the best pieces of marital wisdom I have received, is to continue to treat your spouse like an “honored guest from out of town.” You know… when that person you see only once every 5-10 years comes to town, you give them the best towels, take them out to dinner, clean up your house… and yourself. Can you go back to the beginning of your relationship… and know that place again?

And speaking of such honor… this month also sees the celebration of “Palm Sunday”, which comes from the tradition of covering the path of an honored person with something valuable — in this case… palm fronds. The palm branch was a symbol of triumph and of victory, in Jewish tradition. Because of this, the scene of the crowd greeting Jesus by waving palms and carpeting his path with them has given the Christian festival its name

One last piece of synchronicity… Jesus always told the faithful, that it is “by your BELIEF,” that you are healed and saved, etc. I’m not sure the Doobie Brother’s had this in mind with their lyrics, “What a Fool believes, he sees,” but it seems like a very critical truth. Probably the Doobie’s song was about the negative affect of being a fool who wishes for something that just isn’t destined to be. But, you can be like the positive, youthful hearted fool who believes in what CAN be and then enjoy unfathomably, your new April love that is coming to “BE”. Don’t be foolish (blind to what’s important), be like the Fool — the brave heart that approaches life’s great gifts with honor, good humor, and the courage of innocence. That’s my precious prayer for you, today and always!!

It’s a Piscean Time — Swimming the Great Circle, to the Power of Twelve

The Great Wheel of the calendar year has turned once again to March — Happy Birthday Pisces, my “Neptunians” (Pisces is ruled by Neptune). Of course, if you’ve ever ordered and received a formal Horoscope, you can see that it, too, is layed out like a wheel with 12 “spokes” that delineate the 12 houses which hold keys to the unique and natural characteristics of your personality as well as a secret code unveiling potential strengths and weaknesses, successes and failures in your life. It is the blueprint of you! A picture taken of the sky at the moment you took your first breath. Which is why your ‘time & place of birth’ is so important to astrologers.

In Numerology, One means an Individual. Two represents Balance — Union. And Three? It brings the concept of Communication & Interaction, and of course, the Trinity. Think of the Two Fish swimming in opposite directions creating the symbol in the Zodiac sign for Pisces. Each are individual creatures — One fish by itself. Together — Two Fish — they swim in a circle, bringing balance.

And this month, the number 12 seems to be calling out our attention and focus because Pisces is the 12th sign of the Zodiac, and of course the planetary ruler of Pisces and the 12th house, is Neptune. Let’s consider exactly what all that astro jargon means. Upon looking at the 12th house, or any particular house, we’re actually looking at what it means generally, and then specifically to you. By checking on what planet is transiting, or placed in a particular ‘house position’ on the wheel, as well as the natural planetary ruler of that particular house, we can conclude what could be occuring in your life now and even futuristically. And of course nobody knows anything for certain, other than ‘God’ of course, and keep in mind, too, that regardless of your ‘chart’ and how it appears, there is nothing that gets in the way of your ‘free will’ to pursue anything and everything, you so desire, as you are the ruler of your destiny. Your chart is merely a guide to use as a too

Now about this particular 12th house issue going on right now. This year 2007, and in the 12th house, Pisces, we experience an “Occultation” (a more formal name for an eclipse — two of which occur this month), the end of Winter, and the Equinox of Spring (March 21st). And these two eclipses will bring about much significant change in your life. In all of our lives. So, let’s prepare, and prepare well.

Whew… that’s quite a number of concepts, but they are all interrelated, as we shall see. I like the alternate word for eclipse — “occultation” — since its root word (occult) means that which is hidden; all things associated with the 12th house. Of course during an eclipse, one celestial body hides another, and this month brings us both a lunar and solar eclipse. Plus, the Equinox (when the Sun is directly over the Equator) happens in March. Powerful stuff. Some advice:

• The Spring Equinox is a good time to celebrate as Winter begins turning to Spring (watch for disruptions in Communications though for a short period — the Equinox is known to disrupt Communication Satellites)
• Solar and Lunar eclipses bring breaks in patterns, disruptions, and also opportunities — a time for patience and a watchful eye

Often, Astrology itself is considered part of the “Occult” — a body of knowledge that is hidden, or about hidden mechanics behind the way things work. Most folks understand that the earth turns in a circle around the Sun. This in turn (pardon the pun) creates yet another circle… or cycle of seasons — Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall. Nothing too “occult” or ‘hidden’ here yet. When you move into Astrology, there are charts of planetary movements, the houses of the personality, and more — all laid out or ‘aspected’ in a great Wheel. And if you haven’t studied it — then its meaning and how it relates to you and your life, specifically, as well as how it relates to the natural characteristics of your personality and your personal, professional, and romantic relationships is in fact, ‘hidden’ — an occultation. Once your blueprint, or ‘natal chart’ is erected, then your personality is ‘seen’ if you will, by an astrologer. But remember that the actual meaning of occultation is something hidden… by another body.
And it’s not the guy or gal on top of you… LOL

Hmmmm… what’s or better said, ‘whose’ “hiding” all of this occult knowledge? In earlier centuries, it was the church leaders who were against allowing anyone to study astrology. That’s another story for another day. But today, anyone can look it all up, just google, astrology.

So, what about the number 12? 12 months. 12 Greek Gods. There were 12 Apostles of Jesus. There were 12 Tribes of Israel. There are 12 Days of Christmas. 12 hours in the AM, and 12 hours in the PM. Definitely some Mojo in the number, 12. There are 12 Zodiac Signs. 12 Astrological Houses. And… as we already learned, this brings us to Pisces — the 12th sign of the Zodiac. And if there’s one thing I know about you, Pisces, is that you are quite intrigued by all things “occult….hidden.” So, you might also enjoy learning briefly what Numerology can tell us about 12. 12 is composed of the number One, and the number Two. Added together, they make the number Three. In Numerology, One means an Individual. Two represents Balance — Union. And Three? It brings the concept of Communication & Interaction, and of course, the Trinity. Think of the Two Fish swimming in opposite directions creating the symbol in the Zodiac sign for Pisces. Each are individual creatures — One fish by itself. Together — Two Fish — they swim in a circle, bringing balance. Yin and Yang. Finally, we move to Three, and can communicate about Circles, Cycles, Neptunians and the meaning of it all. Think: The Concentric Circles of Love. No more occultation.

So, this awesome month of March, it’s quite power packed and not only for Pisces but for each and every one of us.
