Daija View: Fathers of the Spirit…
Celestial Greetings –
The sacrifices Father’s make endear them to us
In June we celebrate the coming of Summer, and of course, Father’s day. What does it mean to be a Father? Well, a lot of chores, mixed with laughter, mixed with challenges, mixed with work, mixed with joy. And, every good Father is a minister of the Spirit, from cheering on the team, to providing support, and back-up in difficult situations, to examples and lessons of faith provided by spiritually inclined fathers — and grandfathers. Wow… what a busy life it is. To get all of these things done, and “be there” for their family, a big part of what a Father does is sacrifice. It may be something small, like giving up a golf match to be with the family at the zoo, or bigger, like working a second job to help pay for the kid’s college costs. And what Father wouldn’t die for their family, if it came to that?
“As parents, we are Mothering and Fathering little souls. How important is that?.”
Have you ever heard the story of the “Four Chaplains?” One was Catholic, another Jewish, and two were Protestant. They were assigned to troops in WWII going across to England in a convoy, on a cruise ship. They held services in the mess after meals. All of their “boys” looked up to them like Fathers, and of course the Catholic Chaplain was called, “Father.”
Coast Guard Cutters were trying to protect the ship from U-Boats, but it fell behind the convoy and was blown up. It sank in eighteen minutes. During that time, one man ran onto the deck with a meat cleaver threatening all in order to get to a lifeboat. An officer shot him dead.
Also, during those eighteen minutes, the four chaplains gave their life vests to soldiers who had forgotten or lost theirs. Then they stood and linked arms on the bow of the ship as it went down and sang hymns for those frozen in fear on the boat, and those in the freezing water who had jumped overboard.
As the soldiers watched the boat go down, some in the water and some in the only two lifeboats that got launched — they remembered two things. Each life vest they wore had a red light on it to help ships find survivors in the water. Those that stayed on the boat in their life vests made a kind of string of lights like at Christmas time, each representing one soul going down, into the water with the ship. And, they remembered the four Chaplains, arms linked, singing hymns as the ship slipped under. One survivor told the men on the Coast Guard Cutter that plucked him out of the water, that the example of the Chaplains was as close to heaven as he had ever expected to be.
Standing in unity, facing death. Singing about faith in the face of disaster. A gift, by their example, in the lives of those survivors… their young men who looked up to them as Fathers — Fathers of the Spirit, to the end.
As we go about the work of parenting, often it’s too easy to lose site of the higher things to which we aspire. As parents, we are Mothering and Fathering little souls. How important is that? Here’s to the good Fathers (and Mothers) who by their own fine spirits lift their children and those around them — up toward the best that we can be on this life journey. That is my prayer for you this month.

Get set for a truly to Live For Dynamic New Moon on the 15th that will take your relationship to a new depth of passion. Remember Mercury retro begins on the 15th, no signing contracts of any kind. Give yourself extra time during travel to handle potential delays. Otherwise, it’s a pretty kind one, this time! Spiritual Blessing: Your continued passion will enable you to find the shortest distance to your goals.
Cancer Jun 21–Jul 22
If you’re ready for a new you, the time begins after the 15th when shedding those pounds will never be easier. You’ll blush while being escorted around the gym, or club, or on the golf course —noticing the effect you have on others, is rather delightful, even with a few extra pounds! Eyes all on you these days, even in the lines at the grocery store! No doubt you are able to attract attention, now, so be careful about what you choose to wear. If honor and recognition is what you’re seeking, then expect a raise after the 29th. Spiritual Blessing: God never responds to Pain — God only responds to FAITH.
Leo Jul 22 — Aug 22
Prepare for a career launch after the 24th where you’re about to begin a hectic six week trend that will keep you busy, yes, but take you into the money, double yes…YES!! After the 15th count on your social life picking up and as if you’re not already popular enough—you most certainly steal the show now, even at weddings, and even when you’re not the bride! So please use proper decorum and ‘don’t’ even think about wearing white!! You are in the limelight and whatever you’re doing Ms. Venus Charmer of the Evening do practice good social graces. Maintain a state of ‘balance’. If involved in the romance of the season, it continues, and nicely, so take it slow. Spiritual Blessing: Whatever you focus on today determines your level of joy, peace and contentment.
Virgo Aug 22 — Sept 22
Mercury retrograde begins on the 15th and it’s your time to shine with a nice promotion, more money, a vacation in order, a visit with/from friends and family, and even a reconsideration of what’s truly important in your life. Talk about renewal? You’ll possibly even rethink your professional goals, consider changing professions, and/or literally renegotiate all important matters in your life, altering your life style in some very, unique and important way. You’ll have a chance to reconnect with those whom you love and in a very special way. Spiritual Blessing: One day of God’s Favor is worth a thousand days of Labor.
Libra Sept 22 — Oct 23
Certainly a magic rollercoaster ride into fantasy this month especially after the 15th when the contacts you make take you both into the past and into the future. You are about to see your life unfold in a way that will tell your romantic story provided you’re prepared for the emotional scenes where you play the leading roll. Your focus and attention, is important, but your absolute involvement is key. Make it fun, okay. People are watching so turn this into an impressive performance. A whirlwind romance takes you off-guard between June 5th and 29th exposing something secret. Spiritual Blessing: The teachers you choose to follow, determines the instruction you choose to believe, and the future you choose to create.
Scorpio Oct 23 — Nov 22
After the 25th, you can say good bye to fretting, fussing, and anything that you’ve personally been dealing with that may have been rubbing you the wrong way since the beginning of the year! It’s a new season of joy, fun times, and mostly LOVE! You just feel good about yourself, and about life in general, even though you’ve got some weighty decisions to make. Yes, decisions. Very big decisions to make after the 15th of this month, and you’ll make them now, and in so doing, you’ll bid adieu to all the poo pooing and hem hawing going on about them. That’s fine. Bank account gets a boost between the 15th and 30th, enjoy! Refrain from visiting Tiffany’s until the numbers are in. You’re about to expand your horizons this month with a new sizzling romantic interest or two, or three, everything arrives in multiples or in packages of ‘two’ for you this season. You couldn’t be more pleased when you set your sights high, and receive double for your quite modest efforts! Now if only those who are just ‘so S-L-O-W’ would please step aside, you need to be on your way! You’re rather drawn to people who are able to fuel and motivate your most insatiable desires. Spiritual Blessing: When you are doing the work God has called you to do, His blessing will be upon you in abundance.
Capricorn Dec 21 — Jan 19
Any mixed signals that you’re getting ‘END’ this month. This is a two way street and you too, have a lot to do with what you’re receiving from others. You decide to just go have fun mid month, take a trip see the world, sail away, and just ‘go play’. That’s okay, you see family and friends whom you’ve needed to see. A good relaxing visit and now you’re back to work by month’s end when the changes you’re hoping to see begin to take shape, at least the people are in place. The changes you’re seeking finally arrive during the fourth quarter this year. You may assist someone fulfill a dream. Spiritual Blessing: When God is your partner, you can afford to make “BIG PLANS”!

You’re in the grand swing of things as your summer plans get underway. Work is great, you’re on top of things, and your boss thinks you’re smashing! Someone whom you meet at a block party or bar b q becomes a mentor or close friend, perhaps even a romantic partner if the situation is right. You both just click! Fill your calendar with fun things to do together, and yes, include the kids, you will enjoy making this a ‘family affair’. And if there’s no kids involved just yet, then it’s time to sit back and enjoy your lives in a very special way—such as you’ve never enjoyed it before. Get that physical check up, it’s time. No delays, okay! Spiritual Blessing: What you make happen for others, God will make happen for you!
Pisces Feb 18 — Mar 20
It’s all about your vision this month. Between the 5th and 25th focus and clarity is key, and relaxing into wherever you are and of course with your partner. If traveling check dates, times, places, confirm everything due to Mercury retrograde beginning on the 15th; delays are nearly inevitable. Money, career and moving forward in your current projects are right on track now. You’re feeling pretty good about love, life and your pursuit of happiness. Your family appreciates you, and you’re feeling loved. More importantly, you’re feeling secure, and blessed, and things continue to get better, in all areas of your life. What you’re living now is just a taste of sheer bliss! Spiritual Blessing: FAITH is simply your confidence in GOD!

It’s ALLSTAR time, little league sports and even big leagues too, you’re about to join a team, or coach or do something pertaining to or around a sporting theme. ACTION is the name of the game this summer when you’re at your social best. Double check reservations, due to Mercury retro after the 15th, anything planned can go awry, you could end up in a tent out on the bank of a river! And if you’re cuddled up with someone ‘cute’ that could be ‘okay’… at least for an hour or two. You are certainly at your social best for the entire month of June! SO go play ball, meet new friends, relax with the crew and have a summer fest brew! Spiritual Blessing: What you do ‘now’ determines what God will do next in your life.
Taurus Apr 19 — May 20
Take no unnecessary or uncalculated risks this month, your love life is on a roll, and all you must do is relax now and enjoy it. Savor this seasonal and festive time. The events leading to where you are going is truly something to savor. However, if you’re not liking or enjoying this “RIDE” then time to exit. NOW!! This is your life and you’re writing this script. You’re choosing this wall paper pattern, and if you don’t like it, then rip it off, and start over. Don’t Just make do! There’s an unlimited array of patterns and designs to choose from. You get the picture. Professionally, you’re on auto pilot. Personal and romantic areas of your life take priority, and you will come to terms. Make peace with all. Life truly does happen while you’re busy planning it. WOW, does it ever! Spiritual Blessing: When you ask God for a miracle, He will give you an instruction.Remember to enjoy the fullness of Summer and to treasure your Fathers this month.
