Daija View: The New Year, Hogmanay, Boar Tide, and Auld Lang Syne……

As the New Year Begins, We look ahead… and look back…
It’s a brand New Year 2007, and here’s wishing you a happy one where all your dreams come true. It’s a celebration of new beginnings in the dead of Winter. And this new year is celebrated in many ways, and even in different months throughout the world. Most folks are aware of the Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated on Feb. 18th this year (the date changes since the Chinese Calendar is based on astrological positioning), is the year of the Boar, or “PIG” in generic terms. According to the Chinese tradition, the year of the Boar is one of benevolence, one with a lot of ‘feel good factor’, one of “abundance” and a good year for business. Sounds like a good year, where our bank accounts and the economy gets a little Boar-ing boost, and basically we’ll all fatten up a bit by makin’ a bit more bacon before the year ends.
And remember how magically important this NEW YEAR really is… and isn’t every New Year?? Remember how much love we truly can give each to the other, and how much love and kindness that we have all witnessed just looking at the passing of another year…”
And speaking of ‘Piglets’ another interesting New Years tradition is that of “Hogmanay,” (get it “HOG”) a Scottish tradition with an official celebration on Dec. 31st. One charming custom associated with the observance is that of “first-footing,” whereby the first person to cross the doorway into the home of a friend or neighbor sets the luck for the rest of the year, usually bring symbolic gifts like shortbread, whiskey, and black bun (a type of fruit pudding) to the home owner who then shares them with guests. Who are the first guests in your home this year? What will they bring? Hopefully they’ll be dropin’ off a bag of bacon or $$$, or perhaps they’ll be stoppin’ bye for a quick visit and perhaps share a meal, drink or laugh!
Oh, and you’ve probably sang, or at least you’ve heard sung, the song, “Auld Lang Syne?” I love that SONG!! Guess what… it is a custom that came about during Hogmanay in Scotland, there’s a lot going on with the abundance of the Pig year. . .for starters, Jupiter (ABUNDANCE)… is there any doubt how all these different ideals associated with this new year, are in general all about ‘growth, abundance, ‘fattening up’ our bank accounts, our emotional accounts, and our spiritual accounts, too. And do you know what the words “Auld Lang Syne” actually mean? Literally, they are “old long since,” though in modern English they might be better translated “days of long ago,” or perhaps “once upon a time.” Friendship, memories, a longing for the times that have past. All this harkens in the New Year. As the final verse of the original lyrics by Robert Burns (1759 – 1796) goes,
“And there’s a hand my trusty friend!
And give us a hand o’ thine!
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.”
And of course we all tend to remember the “auld acquaintence” — friends and family we’ve known for so long — when we hear the song. A good thought for them, a prayer, the nostalgia of things past. All this sweeps to mind as the ball falls, and the New Year dawns. Whether or not your old friends are the first to cross your threshold, they of course can play important roles in the “benevolence” and “abundance” forecasted in the Chinese tradition. Is it time you touched base with your old friends for the sake of old times? We’re all connected in the web of destiny, and most can feel this during celebration and song as the wheel of this abundant new year turns.
Remembering what was… celebrating what will be, and is to be. That is the gift of this New Year, 2007. And whether it falls on the Gregorian Calendar date of Jan. 1, in February as the year of the Boar begins, or on some other date in another tradition… the important thing is what is in your heart, and what moves your spirit.

At the worst and best of things, remember this always and that is Love is a many splendored thing, and something that we all ‘are’ as well as something that we all ‘have to give’. . .today, tomorrow and always.

Happy Birthday Capi!! No doubt you’re in the midst of post holiday celebration, and still celebrating for the remainder of the month!! And you deserve it, too. Now don’t get to hasty in your planning before the New Moon in your sign on the 18th. Between now and then, put on your thinking Caps, Capi, ‘mentally’ creating your upcoming plans for the new year. After the 18th, you’ll slock your plans into orbit creating just about anything your heart’s desire. Make sure that you ask for what you want, and then realize that it’s not about if, but surely only about when, you’re going to get it. Spiritual Blessing: Compromise is not a sign of weakness, especially in partnership matters.
When the going get’s tough, you’re the tough one who get’s things going! Your love life is soaring, this month, although it may be in the opposite direction of what you anticipated. You’ll remain stable and unscathed during this transit so long as you refrain any attempt to ‘control’ those in partnership with you. Regardless of the type of partnership dynamic, you’ll have challenges to contend with. However, it’s those areas of conflict in our lives that allow us the most growth, thererfore, rest assured that you’ll feel better after the 18th, & just in time to celebrate a wonderful birthday with the one you truly love! Spiritual Blessing: The strengths in differences, can be seen in whether we clash or compliment our counterpart.
ESP anyone? You’re the visionary of the zodiac and what you see between the 18th and month’s end, is indeed miraculous. Mum’s the word around competition. Rather, display an inquisitive demeanor, along with absolute non-disclosure. Trust right now is between you and the sign post; certainly your ideas are worth much more than even you can imagine. Careful about what you say and to whom, especially if you’ve got an incredible idea pertaining to an innovative business venture or solution. Your mental gymnastics is worth a zillion $$$, if acted on and with the right people & in the most appropriate venue. Spiritual Blessing: Puzzles can be solved, even human ones, when you keep a cool, calm and collected demeanor.
Aries Mar 20 — Apr 19 Between the 7th and 21st, you’re rocking and rolling in the networking of business enterprises. Yet, go slow, and follow through, dot your “i’s” and cross your “t’s” and disallow anyone to get the better of your nerves. You’ll need a cool head to wrangle things your way, and keep it so, for many moons. The new moon on the 18th signals to you that your job is half done, for the first quarter, anyway. And by the 29th, you’ll relax knowing that you planted your seeds, and now you’ll watch the funding all the way to the bank. You’re on your way to success, although partnerships can be misleading. What you think and what they believe are in truth, two different things. Spiritual Blessing: Be humble. Acting in a superior fashion arouses resentment.
Career gains, recognition, financial viability and even a flirty someone from the past will have you wound up between the 18th and 29th, when you feel as though you’ve won the lottery in several different areas of your life. After all you have come to understand that we do indeed create our own happiness, or unhappiness. The term of a relationship is exactly what you’ve desired for a long time, just fearful about actually ‘setting’ that route into action. You want happiness and you want everyone else to be happy, too. Intense communications prevail, and you reach a decision. Spiritual Blessing: Laughter is truly the best medicine, however, in making jokes at someone else’s expense, it’s apparent who will suffer most.
Keep those gypsy feet on the ground winged friends, it’s not the time of month or even the month to fly off into the wild blue yonder on a solo mission. There’s plenty of time for that later this year. Right now it’s all about focus, which could be the farthest thing from your mind. Ball & chain yourself to your chair or desk, and don’t get up until you’ve met your quota, or finished at least three of the 23 items on your daily to do list. This isn’t the most painfree time, yet, you’ll begin to feel so much better and much more ‘free’ after the 18th when you’re back on track and stablized in your plans for upcoming events. No worries about finances, infact, you reap a huge financial reward by month’s end that you’ll likely celebrate with a dynamo shopping spree! Spiritual Blessing: Keep your cool, maintain self-respect, and don’t let others manipulate you.
It’s all about communication. You draw people to you this month via open, and emotionally honest heartfelt communication. Good, healthy and healing, actually prosperous connections are fostered. What you thought was a difficult situation turns out to be a lifesaver. You hold the ball in how you perceive and deliver information. Your loved ones are so incredibly important to you and you to them, although the tension can rise if you choose to be overly sensitive. Cash flow appears to stablize midmonth, you actually have more after the 18th than you anticipated. SHOPPING TIME!! You hear about something that brings a tear to your eye; you realize how much you’re truly loved. Spiritual Blessing: Gracefully recognize your blessings, and most of all enjoy them; failure to delve into the spiritual side of life results in hopelessness.
This month you meet your soul mate connection, yet, it’s your choice whether or not you allow the connection to solidify. Practice prudence, of course, after the 18th when you’ll be more open to the powers that be. The right connection is the one that provides something more than lust, it is endearing, enduring, expresses kindness, consideration and joy. Many people in your life right now want you. You have a choice, of course, but there’s only one, whose heart you set afire. Look straight into the abyss of all that you fear, as it is there, where your love life suddenly changes gears, and your decision will lead you to a place that only you’ve dreamed about. Wake up, and relax, it’s for real. Spiritual Blessing: Keep your impulsiveness under control. Don’t head for land while in the sea of love, swim in it, till your heart’s content.
You’re in the mood to talk, joke, laugh and make connections between now and the 21st, and especially those from the past. It’s the most personally oriented, friendship month you’ve had for sometime. And you’re still in love with someone from your past, and perhaps if you look at the big picture, you’ll see them, clearly, and you’ll make the connection that will alter the rest of your life, and favorably so, of course. Never have you considered such a lifestyle change than perhaps what you’re going thru right now, and will continue to enjoy for sometime, still. There’s plenty of time to catch up on life, and love, of course, when you’re with your heart’s desire. Stop dreaming about ‘her/him’ and make the connection that matters most. Spiritual Blessing: Act sensibly without sacrificing expression. What you say & do now, alters the rest of your life.
Creating a new image, and even a new life is where you’re at thru the 18th, and all that you’ve known for sometime, suddenly becomes priority to you, and anything that you consider new is simply not good enough, for you. Your life as you know it now, comes to a dramatic halt, where suddenly you decide that what you need in your life, right now is right there in front of you, and all you must do is take it or go get it. And the best part about this is that is exactly what you do. However, remember in all things, especially relationships, there is the consent of both parties, it’s not only about what you want. You’ll have a moment of heartfelt dilemma, but you’ll know exactly what to do. Charismatic Venus Kids, always do! Spiritual Blessing: Tighen up a bit emotionally, and don’t take ‘no’ for an answer, be creative, spontaneous and use ‘real love’ as your keyword to conquer.
After the 27th cupid strikes his bow and you suddenly fall magically and passionately in love, and this can be even with yourself, and that isn’t so bad. After all, real love does begin with loving ourselves, first. However, if you’re on track and happy within, then this is certainly a soul mate twinflame connection that’ll leap forward and toward you, surprising you. You’ll latch on, too, never to let go, forever holding your piece of the action, should they even try to get away. Whether it’s money, love, time, material possessions, whatever you must offer, you do so… caution, they’re not getting away this time without you attached at the hip, or tied to the back bumper. When you set your mind toward your heart’s desire, there’s no way to stop you from getting exactly what you want. Just make sure that s/he is truly what you want, because getting rid of this one… well, that ain’t gonna happen. Spiritual Blessing: Your love life takes on a spiritual connection that changes your perspective about prayer. It’s not about ‘if’ you get what you pray for, it’s only about when.
Let’s get down tonight! It’s time to set this romance into action. After the 18th, you’re sure about what you want, and you’re sure that you’re going to have it, one way or another. You and Scorpio must be sidling up together this month, careful, you’re likely to burn each other up! No doubt you’ve come to terms with your hidden desires, and have made the last mistake in love you’re destined to make, at least that’s your promise to yourself. It’s time now to set this in stone, unless of course, you’re juggling two or three. Remember, Polygamy isn’t legal, well, okay only in Utah. Seriously, you’re settled, established, financially stable and ready to commit, now to which One? You’ll figure it out. The clue? It’s the one your mother loves. Spiritual Blessing: Exercise will power — be resolute, and refrain from holding back from experience, Life is a school you can learn in.
