Daija View: Celebrating the Harvest…

As Fall brings the Harvest, we celebrate under the Aires Full Moon, and a Libra New Moon…
Seasons turn, leaves turn golden orange and scutter to earth to join the brown soil. There’s a chill in the air, but a wishful sort of chill as we celebrate the revolving of the great wheel of the seasons. A festive time draws near, and you can almost feel it now — but why do we celebrate?
Think of the harvest. It is a time when you gather the result of what you have sown in yourself and your loved ones. It is a time when you are rewarded for hard work. What better time to celebrate? Even deeper, there is the movement of the seasons — the turning of nature’s clock in the deep rythym of the Earth. Cycles, familiar yet ever new. How many times have we enjoyed the brilliant colors of the leaves? The first crisp coldness of Fall in our lungs? Breathe deep. This is what it means to be alive! Going through the remarkable changes – from full moon back to new moon – that arrive as the four seasons wane, overlap, and then wax again.
The seasonal wheel is still turning, the harvest will be gathered, and life’s magic is celebrated, again.
Harvesters were able to work under the light of the “Harvest Moon” (the full moon closest to the Autumn Equinox — this year it is the Aries Full Moon on Oct. 6 & 7) and thus bring in the grain, followed by a period of feasting, and celebration. In modern times we celebrate “October Fest” (a reaping of hops to produce beer), and Halloween… colorfully decorated with the bright orange of the pumpkin harvest. Everyone loves the carmel apples, candy corn, costumes, and rich brewed libations that swarm your senses at this time? What are you wishing for — the Harvest Moon is a good time for wishes to come true. Magic is afoot. You can sense and smell the fresh new season.
Ahhhh, Halloween. Scarecrows and dead souls. All souls day. Some fear it is an evil celebration. I’m Christian, and I don’t. You have to scare away the crows if you’re going to celebrate the harvest. And what could be more spiritual than celebrating the lives of past over souls whom have past beyond this physical world? Whatever happened to the good-natured fun of a children’s Halloween party? The unknown is only scary when your faith waivers. Take heart. The seasonal wheel is still turning, the harvest will be gathered, and life’s magic is celebrated, again. Remember carving a ripe pumpkin into a Jack-O-Lantern? Family times shared together in costume, sipping cider? There’s no mistake that people draw close at these times in the yearly cycle. A gathering of the harvest… a gathering in the Spirit. Time to celebrate the cycle of life in the circle of seasons.
Hold close those you love, celebrate the harvest, and make good wishes in the light of the new moon. And, keep close to God as the seasons turn.

Happy Birthday all my Librans!! You’ve got the Sun, Mars, and Venus all working in your sign this month so take heart and move boldly in your affairs. Use the confidence you feel to move ahead in your career dealings and in personal relationships at home. Take that step you’ve been wondering about — the time is now. Take the helm of your ship, “seize the day“, and steer straight ahead. You’re in command. Do take a break for rest, every so often, since spending this month ‘s energies will require some recharging. This is an emotional time for you (your birthday, new dreams, the full moon), so put them to good use and don’t let them stop you. Mars will embolden you, and bring your strength to push pass any obstacles. Avoid any important business decisions during the Mercury Retrograde (Oct. 28 – Nov. 17). Hold onto that birthday optimism throughout “your” month, and work in a little romance. Spiritual Blessing: You’re given the power to channel your energy toward your goals and dreams.
The best time for you to make an important “move” (decision, announcement, etc.) this month is when the Sun enters your sign on the 23rd, bringing you the power and advantage to forge ahead. In the meantime, keep up your networking with friends, family and co-workers as you lay your plans for the month. Get your “ducks all in a row.” You can “hold your cards close” for now (as Scorpios love to do), while you get your strategy worked out. Keep an eye on patterns around you, and follow your gut reaction to them. The moon influences both your health and your work efforts, so make sure you balance both. Get some needed exercise. Pay attention to your pets, if you have them, and give them some extra loving. Spiritual Blessing: You’re given the advantage of planning, followed by the power to succeed.
This can be a month of change for you, so look for the opportunities that ripen as doors unlock and open. You may have to give a fast response to some of the new things that cross your path, so think carefully about what is important to you. Watch for a shift in career or family matters, and be ready for it. Now is also a good time to finish up on those projects you’ve had on the back burner. This is a month of work for you when you can put new ideas into motion. Your financial situation should be a focus, and you will be able to make good progress in these matters. Rounding out this month will be social events and interests, so you’ll have a “full plate” on your hands during October. It may seem like hard work, but the rewards will be worth it. Hang in there and go with the power of the full moon for the energy to finish projects. Exercise your diplomacy skills as you move through business and personal dealings. Spiritual Blessing: Now you have the energy to manifest your ideas and complete your projects.
Wow… you’re on a roll at the beginning of the month, and everything goes your way. You’re overdue for it.? But everything happens in God’s perfect time. This is your month. Make sure to review all your options as you go. You have the momentum, but exercise caution as you surge ahead. It is also a good month for a long overdue get-away. Mercury goes retrograde on the 20th, affecting your career, so be ready for some delays and the need to check and double-check your communication. You’ve got the “wind in your sails,” so take advantage of it. Cover all your bases. Spiritual Blessing: The spirit of success flows through you giving you the power to work “full steam ahead.”
It’s a good month for sorting out your feelings, and the recent changes life has laid before you. Feeling guarded this month, and a little “out of control“, could be a natural consequence as you work these things out, but you also have the opportunity to take a fresh look at things. You’ll make changes, where change is due. The universe always expands and evolves. You can use your natural creativity to deal with your own personal evolution — you are the artist of your own destiny. Give yourself some space and embrace this time of growth for yourself. Spiritual Blessing: Your gift of creativity and sensitivity will guide you as you find opportunities to grow.
Aries Mar 20 — Apr 19 Saturn is an influence this month that “brings in the tide” in a way that could challenge you. You will have a chance to conclude a matter that means a lot to you. Think of the full moon as your friend, and look for positive signs on and around the time when it shines brightly in your sky. Keep your “ear to the ground” for some important news, and pay attention to that love in your life. You can sizzle in your romantic relationship. If you don’t have a serious love interest, this is a good month to be social, so dust off that Halloween costume and get ready to party. Who’s that over there under that mask? Spiritual Blessing: The heavenly forces align to provide the impetus for you to finish important projects.
This is a great month for you to work on all those assignments and projects to which you’re committed. You’ll want to “take charge,” but also keep an overview of what’s going on so you can see the “big picture.” Now is the time to “show your stuff,” and make sure you do a good job on your projects so that opportunities will open for you. Glorious opportunities arise allowing you to show off how talented you are in ways that may surprise those around you. This is a good time in your career, and carefully considered proposals wilk receive a favorable response from bosses. While Mercury Retrograde doesn’t affect you that much, you may need to exercise some patience as others stall and take time to make their decisions. Romance is in the air for you this month, and the new moon (Oct. 22nd) can shed it’s soft light on the love interest in your life. Social events are definitely a factor for you, and good friends will play important roles in your life. Make sure you’re very clear about what you can give, and what you need in return. Are you prepared to state your needs? You’ll find some good support from your life partner, if you have one, but remember that if you’re single… a spark of romance with a new love interest can emerge. Toward the end of the month, let the new moon empower you to take charge, both at work and in your personal life. Spiritual Blessing: This month brings both romance and the power to succeed under the soft, clear light of the moon.
Life is a busy place for you this month, so take care and slow down as things get a little crazy for you. You’ll survive. There’s much to celebrate, since the energy afoot makes this month fruitful, and brings you positive comments on your efforts. The encouragement will do you good. This is also a good time for business ventures, so look for opportunities on this front. Remember to relax and get some rest in the midst of all that is going on. The influence of Venus helps your decision making on the home front, and it’s a powerful time to let a little romance into your life. Go with the flow while still under the influence of Saturn. It’s a good time to communicate — you have great strength in relating to others. Relationships are another focus for you now, and the time of the full moon can be quite favorable for you — in love, and also in financial interests. Pay attention to your money situation and watch for opportunities to increase your pay via a raise, or perhaps a new source of income. The end of the month would be a good time to get away, fall back, and regroup — check out that charming vacation spot you’ve been wanting to visit.
